The GenSpark 1.0 Finale, organized by the IEM-UEM GenAI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in association with the Department of CSE and CSE(AI), IEM, was successfully held on August 23, 2025, at the IEM Gurukul Science Auditorium. The grand finale marked the culmination of months of ideation, innovation, rigorous evaluation by esteemed judges, guidance and prototype development assistance by industry experts, bringing together some of the brightest young minds with breakthrough solutions. Participation and Selection: The ideathon received an overwhelming 40+ team registrations, from which 7 teams presenting 8 innovative ideas qualified for the finale after 2 phases of evaluations by the judges. These teams showcased their technical expertise, creativity, and entrepreneurial thinking through impactful ideas aimed at addressing real-world challenges. Distinguished Guests and Judges: The event was honored by the presence of esteemed judges and special guests from reputed global organizations: As Judges, we were joined by: Mr. Abhijit Pal, Executive Director, Alphaxine Ms. Aindrila Basu, Associate Partner, IBM Dr. Indranil Mitra, Partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers As Guests of honour, we were proud to have: Mr. Sayan Ghosh, Principal Architect, Maantic Inc. Mr. Shirsendu Sengupta, Global Head of Digital Process Transformation, Maantic Inc. In addition, faculty members of the Department of CSE and CSE(AI), IEM, graced the occasion with their support and encouragement. Event Highlights The finale commenced at 10:00 AM, beginning with team presentations and prototype demonstrations. Each finalist team delivered insightful and enthusiastic presentations, showcasing both innovation and the practical applicability of their solutions. The presentations included focusing on the key areas of challenges, showcasing the target audience, revenue model, project USP, competitive analysis and most importantly a working demonstration of the designed prototype. The judges and guests engaged actively, evaluating each idea with keen interest. Their insights were valuable and sure to enhance the endeavours of the teams in the days to come. Some major observations of the eminent judges included: The judges were highly impressed by the uniqueness of the ideas presented and the confidence with which the teams demonstrated them. They particularly appreciated the adeptness of participants as young as 2nd and 3rd-year students, whose innovative thinking and ability to address complex yet relevant queries stood out as remarkable. The judges upheld that emotional intelligence of human beings is an attribute globally acknowledged as irreplaceable by AI. Thus all ideas while utilising AI to the best of its abilities, should assist the human process of employing emotional intelligence in tasks and not replace the same altogether. Drawing from their extensive industry experience, the judges recommended that participants include not only a revenue model but also a detailed end-to-end cost model as part of their project demonstrations. Inclusion of more detailed and comprehensive competitive analytics,including domain specific and feature wise metrics of business models, proposed and marketed by different enterprise entities and service providers, was recommended as well. The overall conduct of the event was praised immensely. All judges unanimously agreed that such ideation and mentoring events play a pivotal role in preparing students to address real-world scenarios and become industry-ready. They acknowledged that these initiatives help bridge the gap between academic foundations and the skillsets valued by industries, thereby nurturing the next generation of innovators, designers, and problem-solvers. Following the presentations, the Guests of Honor and Judges were felicitated by Prof. Dr. Amit Kumar Das, Head of IEM-UEM GenAI CoE . All finalists were also awarded certificates in recognition of their outstanding achievement in making it to the finale. Results and Awards: The highlight of the day was the much-anticipated announcement of winners. The top three positions were awarded as follows: 1st Position – Team GenKindle comprising Srijita Saha, Snehansha Das, Aaryan Roy, and Swastika Das, for their idea Confident.AI, a groundbreaking solution that impressed the judges with its creativity, technical strength, and real-world applicability. 2nd Position – Team Fireflux consisting of Teesta Kar, Jyoti Prakash Mondal, Swarnali Ghosh, and Subham Pal, for their project Fireflux, which showcased innovation with strong practical potential. 3rd Position – Team BreatheSync represented by Pratik Samanta and Anubrata Guin, for their idea RespireAI, an AI-powered solution for respiratory health monitoring that reflected impactful problem-solving. Conclusion: The event concluded with thought-provoking insights shared by the judges and guests, who emphasized the importance of innovation, perseverance, and industry relevance in shaping future-ready solutions. Their valuable feedback motivated participants to refine their ideas further and continue their journey of technological exploration. The GenSpark 1.0 Finale successfully served as a platform to celebrate innovation, encourage young minds, and bridge academia with industry. It was not just a competition but a vibrant showcase of ideas that hold the promise to transform the future.
